April 24th Wedding Anniversary

Last week was our 9 year wedding anniversary. We decided to stay low-key this year and take Avery to the park and have a picnic. I picked up some cheese, bread and fruit and a bottle of wine and we headed out to a park close to the water to play for a few hours. Here are some pictures from our evening.

The is the 'play dead' routine

She is testing us! I think it's kind of funny, actually.

She's pretty good at throwing the Frisbee

She thought the Frisbee was going to land in the water

Another beach trip

We packed up early and headed out last Saturday to the beach. Avery LOVES the beach and was so excited to go again. This time we took equipment - an umbrella, toys and beach chairs. Scott spent about hour body surfing while we played in the sand. We met Jay and Michelle at a local restaurant, had lunch and then put their boat in the Intercoastal and headed south, then back north up to St. Augustine. It was the best day, but the sun really wiped us all out. By the time we got the boat out of the water it was 9PM and we were all beat. We got home about 11PM and I could have slept 15 hours, but instead we woke up Sunday AM and cleaned out one of those construction storage trailers we had gotten during the house renovation. It was no fun shuffling stuff around in the heat of the day, but it's cleaned out and almost all put away, so we can save $100 a month and make our back yard look a little less junky.

We had planned to go back to the beach this weekend - Scott wanted to do some fishing, but I think we have decided to stay closer to home and maybe try to take Avery canoeing on the river instead.

Weekends are too short

It's late Sunday night and I need to be in the bed, but I am reviewing pictures from the weekend. We had a nice weekend. Saturday Avery and I went to the zoo while Daddy worked in the yard (big surprise!).
Saturday night we had some friends over for dinner - we made shrimp tacos with homemade salsa and guac. Mmmmm. I started working on the Italy DVD, but didn't get far. I promise I'll get to it. Why can't the weekends be longer?!
Today we got up and had a nice breakfast outside - Scott took Avery out and I met up with my friend Laura and we went to a opera at UF. We went to a late brunch before the show at Paramount Grill. How wonderful. The opera was really funny and very enjoyable. I think we need to get Avery to more musical/recitals at UF. Even if we only stay a few minutes at a time. I know she would enjoy it.
After I got home, we hopped back in the car and went to watch the last 30 minutes of Yousseff's soccer game and they WON! Yay, Yousseff. They're now in the semi-finals.

Yousseff in action.

Victory smile.

Avery got bored at the game and decided to jump off Daddy.

This is our new challenge....anytime you ask Avery to do something she says some form of 'no' and then puts herself in this 'play dead' position.
D-R-I-V-E-S
U-S
N-U-T-S!!!
Any advise would be appreciated. *sigh*

Saturday at the zoo

I took Avery to the local teaching zoo this past Saturday and we both had a very nice time.

Here she is coloring Flounder.

Showing me her coloring.

Eating popcorn.

She is not afraid to pet the snake, but she will not hold our 4 new baby chicks?!?!?

Trying to check out the snakes

Back from Italy

Well hello! We have been back for 11 days now and we are slowly getting back to life before we left. I have SOOOO many pictures from our trip and I'll be posting them soon, but in the meantime I'm going to work my way backwards and post a few from the past few weekends.

We took Avery to the beach last weekend and had the best time. She really does love the beach. We bought a summer parking pass, so hopefully we will go a few times a month this summer.

Chasing seaguls

I got this suit for her in Italy. It didn't fot real well. But she was still cute.
