No Agenda Sunday

Ahhhhhh, don't you just love days where you really don't have plans and you can just do whatever? I've been cooking and prepping food for the week and taking a few pictures (below).
I started back on the South Beach Diet last Monday. That diet worked so well for me prior to getting pregnant with Avery and I decided it was high time to get the 'baby fat' off. I mean really, 4 years! I am happy to report I lost 4.5 lbs. last week. I like this diet because it is very restrictive the first 2 weeks. When I do diets that let you eat anything, but only small portions, I always blow it. I did have a little slip up and had some wine last night. One more week on phase 1 and things won't be quite so strict. I have actually enjoyed cooking and planning meals and making good nutrition a priority. Let's hope it keeps up, right?

So, yesterday Avery said one of the funniest statements to date. She was showering with Daddy and said, "Daddy I am growing up and getting bigger and bigger and soon I am going to get a penis just like you". He about died and asked me to come into the bathroom so she could tell me as well. My jaw dropped and I looked at her and said, "No, Avery you won't get a penis". She was very dissapointed. Seriously, she made the saddest little face. Meanwhile I am about to bust out laughing, but I don't won't her to feel worse, so I have to run into the other room just so I won't lose it in front of her.

Lately she has been playing and talking a lot before falling asleep for her afternoon nap and she has realized she can sneak out of the bed and play. Today I was at the kitchen window doing dishes (of course) and I saw her poke her head through the cutains in her room to look outside. She saw me standing in the kitchen and RAN back to her bed. I went into her room to get on to her for getting out of her bed, but instead I busted out laughing when I looked at her guilty face. That little girl makes me laugh sometimes and other times NOT, if you know what I mean.

We think she is looking more and more like Daddy. What do YOU think?

ICE CREAM

Daddy cooked a dinner tonight that I knew Avery would not enjoy. It was some form of a skillet hash made out of leftovers from the week. It had potatoes, pork, onions and cheese in it. He made it on the skillet and it looked pretty tasty to me (but anything with potatoes would look good to me about now (SBD)). Avery barely touched it and took off claiming she was done. She came back and noticed Scott had a bowl of ice cream. SHE WANTED ICE CREAM TOO, so he told her she had to finish her dinner. That produced several intervals of tears over the course of about AN HOUR. She started back eating the dinner and was dropping a lot on the floor - pretty smart, huh? A few times she said she had to go 'pee-pee'. I thought for sure she was disposing of the food in her mouth, but both times she actually went - we checked.
The best part is we got to wait around for her to eat this food that took forever. She was literally GAGGING each bite down.

This girl will do a lot for a bowl of ice cream. Here she is proud of her efforts.

4th of July Weekend Fun

Patriotic Avery

At the beach

Avery running back, Daddy going out

Avery in action

I believe this was the face that she produced when we told her she had to finish the water she wanted before she could have some Gatorade. So dramatic!

Still 'working it'. For the record, it didn't work.

Wonderful Visit with the Tyners!

We had a wonder time with our friends and got to meet their little miracle, Ava.
She is the most consistant happy baby I have ever been around. They have been truly blessed with an angel. What a doll!

More pics to come, but I had to show off a pic I took of this sweet, sweet baby girl.

Disney

A few weeks ago we took a trip to Orlando for the day to Magic Kingdom. Wow, was it hot. Too hot, really. This was our 3rd or 4th visit and I think we are finally starting to figure out the best way to go. For starters, don't go in the summer! And then plan to stay oon Disney property - preferably RIGHT NEXT TO THE PARK you plan to visit. Next time we go, we are going to look into the Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian. Go early in the AM, eat lunch and go take naps! We tried the no nap and it was NOT a good idea. I also think you need to do more than one day at one park. When we do it again, we will come down late in the afternnoon, schedule a character dinner at a hotel (Chef Mickey?) and then check in and get a good nights rest before hitting the park EARLY the next morning - preferrably the day of the extra magic hour.

We still had a marvelous memorable time even though Avery wasn't in the happiest mood - it's so hard to figure out kid's moods sometimes! Here are some pics from our trip.

Mommy and Avery (can you see her?) on the rollercoaster. This child LOVES this roller coaster, but is scared to death of something like group activites with other kids. Go figure.

The Main Street Parade - I have loved these fairies since I was a little girl....Flora, Fauna and Meriweather. :)

A view down Main Street

Scott and Avery (looking happy!) on the 'horsey'.

Avery was not too sure about Snow White. This was right when we walked in the door and I think she was a bit nervous. I sure hope she grows out of this!

She is still not smiling.

The look kind of set the tone for the day. I have no idea why, but she was a grump with little bits of happiness thrown in for the day.
